Welcome to EFFICOMP

Driven by the non-compatibility of the current production rate of composite parts and the estimated high ramp-up rate requirements that will follow in future years, according to sales predictions, the EFFICOMP project seeks to propose innovative cost-efficient methods which will increase the production rate of composite parts in order to enable manufacturers to reply to this high demand, without considering the alternative of moving back to heavy, metallic structures and away from a greener transport.

Efficient Composite parts manufacturing (EFFICOMP) is a Horizon2020-funded project which aims to develop efficient processes and certification tools for the fast-tract, cost-effective, composite aircraft of the future.

EFFICOMP will contribute to an increased productivity rate through the investigation of on new, low-curing time materials and the development of new heating solutions, eliminating autoclaves and mould thermal intertia.

The project will also asses new forming and joining methods for composite parts, towards reducing the overall manufacturing costs.

The partners aim to enable the production of greener composite parts, by reducing the energy consumption by a factor of 5 in comparison to traditional manufacturing processes.

EFFICOMP will participate and facilitate the introduction of composites on aircraft structures, directly contributing to a 20% weight reduction in aircraft structures and reduced CO2 and NOx emissions.

Being an EU-Japan collaboration, the EFFICOMP project brings together 5 European and 4 Japanese partners who will perform coordinated research and innovation actions on topics of common interests, thus contributing to the deepening and widening of the existing cooperation between Europe and Japan.
